Automated Cord Blood Processing System

There are approximately 4 million births each year in the United States. Private and public cord blood preservation services have become available to allow cryopreservation of cord blood harvested stem cells for potential future use in transplant indications. While today most of these cord blood harvests are manually prepared for cryopreservation, a fully closed automated system could provide improved stem cell yield, quality of units stored, and reduced processing times for this procedure. Arteriocyte is conducting pre-clinical design modifications to the Magellan system to evaluate its potential use as a cord blood processing system for the public and private cord blood markets.
